Vishwakarma
Institute of Technology (VIT) is an autonomous engineering college located in
Upper Indira Nagar, Bibwewadi, Pune, Maharashtra, India. The college is largely
supported by the Bansilal Ramanath Agarwal Charitable Trust. VIT
was the first private college in Maharashtra to attain academic autonomy in the
academic year 2008-2009. The college is the only college in Pune to
provide Honors and Minors courses in addition to normal undergraduate courses.

About the Department of Computer Engineering
This
is an exciting period for the Computer Engineering profession as the rapidly

Highlights about Research of the Department
At
Computer Engineering department we currently have a major project running which
is funded by the RPS scheme of AICTE on real-time facial expression recognition
to provide a feedback for e-learning systems. The grant received for this
project is Rs. 7.04 Lacs. Apart from this, we have 4 projects which have been
funded by RPS scheme of Savitribai Phule Pune University, which are worth Rs.

The
department has expertise in the domain of data analytics and provide
consultancy to industry. The expert faculty provided a two week long training
consultancy to Zensar in the last semester worth Rs 1.75 Lacs. Other area of
expertise the department has is parallel and distributed computing. The
department has setup as GPU computing lab which is been funded by NVIDIA and is
been awarded “GPU Nodal Center” by GPU excellence Center of IIT, Bombay. In
this area last semester the consultancy provided is worth R. 55,000 for a
week’s duration. We have a government funded web-technology based project going
on in the department which is worth Rs. 48,000.
The
department has active ACM student chapter ACM, the professional body, allows us
to hold many events which provide national as well as international exposure to
students and faculty. Through this body the students have started with a coding
club. The main aim of this club is collaborative learning to develop analytical

Campus Highlights
The
college has approximately 2,900 students, 225 faculty members, 67 laboratories,
one central library, and 150 administrative and supportive staff.
The
campus is spread over an area of 7 acres (28,000 m2) and consists of four major
buildings, a cafeteria, a coffee store, a fruit juice stand, a breakfast centre,
